HDMI cables – which
one to choose?
There are two types of HDMI cable that are available, the first
being standard speed and the second being high speed. Both have
advantages and disadvantages and standard speed cable can be
just as effective. But how and why?
HDMI cable means that you can receive High Definition video and
you can simplify your homes theatre system with easier
connections between High Definition components.
The current HDMI specification is version 1.3 and version 1.4
was recently released. This is not essential for consumers to
know, as all cables are backward compatible meaning they should
work with old and new equipment.
HDMI high-speed cables might be better suited to the consumer
who wishes to take full advantage of blu-ray DVDs and or an HDTV
with 1080p resolution. This is because the high-speed cable will
carry enough bandwidth to ensure perfect quality.
The new 1.4 cables are available in the same two versions,
standard and high-speed but are also available in two further
versions with Ethernet if required. An Ethernet capable HDMI
cable means they can connect to the Internet extending their
usage to a variety of interactive possibilities.
HDMI cables are becoming increasingly popular, as they are
required to make connections meet and exceed the requirements of
components on today’s modern Market. A single cable also means
there is less fuss when it comes to connections and therefore
HDMI cables have practical benefits such as simply being tidier.
They are reliable and easy to install so whichever HDMI cable
you choose you should have little problem attaching it to your
current system.
When buying a HDMI cable, always ensure you buy the shortest
length and protect longer lengths from interference, these are
better for inside walls or ceiling installations. We would also
recommend using a decent review site to check out prices but
always compare prices to quality to make the most of your money.
